| The
island of Koh Sichang is situated 45 minutes ferry ride off Siracha
in the Gulf of Thailand. It is the nearest island to Bangkok, and
as such is used as a retreat by many of the city's residents.
|
Koh
Sichang is refreshingly low on tourists and offers a tranquil atmosphere
to relax you after the rigours of Bangkok. However, the Island does
attract many Chinese, for Chinese New Year especially, who come to the
Island especially to visit the temple SAKW CHAO PAW KHAO YAI (shrine
of the Father Spirit of the Great Hill). Caves to the rear of the Temple
are full of religious statues and artifacts. |
